So this is the second time in a few months that my catch can has filled up really fast. it does have a little bit of oil and sludge in it but most of it is gas. just mainly looking if there is anything I should look at before thinking I have to tear down the whole engine.
this is a 3rd gen from what I know the guy I bought it from said it has a 2002 motor in it. a borg worner s6266, upgraded radiator, manifold, intercooler, and piping.
idk if there is a forum already made for this if so I might have missed it and apologize for starting a new one.
I'm not sure there is way to hook up a catch can so that it fills up with gas. It's more likely it's not gas and is just oil that smells like gas. There are a lot of questions t be asked here but start by answering these...
How are your catch can lines routed?
What ecu is your car on and is it tuned?
What size injectors are you using?
Are you sure your turbo isn't a precision and not a borg warner?
so the catch can is routed to the oil filler the highest point on it I'll add a picture of it. it was originally located next to the right headlight pretty low but I have now moved it to a different area. where it was originally located where I moved it to. it clears the hood where it isn't smashing it down.
as for ECU im not sure and also not sure if its tuned,
the person i bought it from says it is a borg warner but if you have any way to tell the diffrence I will look at doubble check.
unsure what injectors are being sued.
I have the same style catch can and near same location- mine is over where cruise control would be (by the clutch master and ignition coil igniter in LHD car).
Mine also fills with water vapor and gas vapor on long drives in cool weather.
However, the catch can collects very little when racing or in hot weather.
I believe it is because the catch can is in a cooler area of the engine bay so the fuel vapor condenses in the catch can.
If you have an overly rich tune this makes it worse too. Fuel builds up on the rotor flank between side seals and then mixes with oil and migrates into the oil sump where it evaporates from the oil into your catch can and condenses into a liquid again.

so I had it where the blue circle was. and had emptied it a couple of months ago. and this Friday opened it and it was full to the brim. I had only driven about 200 miles or so since I changed the oil. like I said previously I'm not sure about the tune it has. I do know when I am stopped that it does smell rich. so I might need to get it tuned properly. the guy I bought it from had it in Florida so I'm not sure how much of a difference that Florida has from San Diego. right now when it is in boosting it's running about a half bar of boost. so roughly 7 psi over atmosphere so it doesn't have a lot of boost going to it.
