Carburetor parts missing. Need help.
First off I just want to say you guys have done a jam up job on the forum. I went through the FAQs and got most every answer a new RX7 owner needs to get a good start.
I have completed a carburetor rebuild and it runs pretty good. Idle is smooth but it does stumble a little when the Secondaries kick in. I did the mechanical linkage method for opening the Secondaries and that worked great (thank you Sterling). I was going to do the accelerator pump mod, but when I was reading thru it and looking at the diagram in the manual I realized that the check ball weight for the accelerator pump inlet is missing (NO I DID NOT LOSE IT, IT WAS NOT THERE). I guess someone else had been in this carburetor before me. Is this the cause of the stumbling?
The accelerator pump assists in fuel supply thru the Primaries on the carburetor and I am not having any problems going from the primary butterfly being fully closed to a quick acceleration from a dead stop or from coasting then accelerating.
Do I need to correct this before I do the accelerator pump mod? I can make the weight on my lathe out of brass if I knew the dimensions. Does anyone know the dimensions of this small part?
No one around here is jumping thru any hoops trying to get me this very inexpensive little part so making this part myself may be my only option.
Another potential problem is that the TPS is missing off this carburetor. Is it only used by the emission controls? There are no O2 sensors or mass air flow and it’s not fuel injected so I don’t know what the TPS is used for on this car so . . . . . do I need it? I am planning to do the "rat's nest removal" so if I don't need it, I don't want to spend the money.
Also, I want to do the “How To Strip A Nikki Down” that Glazedham42 posted but I am having trouble viewing the photos. Can anyone help me with that please?
Thanks in advance for any help.
