Carb problems
Carb problems
So I drove down to do some errands, car was parked for couple hours, drove out off parking lot, turned right onto street, right foot firmly planted(7000rpm shift) when I shifted to 3rd( I was way over speed limit) the engine kept gaining rpm with my foot off the pedal, turned off ign used brakes to slow down to reasonable speed, turns ign back on and engine still goes to full tilt! Shut off engine & coasted into a parking lot.
My question is; What causes this to happen? Stuck float? Some other fault in the rats nest?
Carb was rebuilt & tuned by very good rotary specialist( who has moved away dang it!) Nothing I can see from outside & the bufferflys are closed. Is this similar to the flooding problems I've read about?
Thanks in advance

a stuck float would give the engine gas and eventually flood it out.It is like a regulator.
Your problem sounds linkage or throttle cable related.

To anybody that's interested, the bi-metal thermo spring inside the air cleaner, has 2 pop rivet, 1 broke, fell on top of the butterfly, jammed it open about 1/16 of an inch, removed carefully & car idles fine, runs good again! What are the odds that 1/2 of a pop rivet jamming just so?
