Car won't start after battery change

Hi all,

I figure this is kind of a noob question so I'll put it here instead of in the 3rd Gen forums.

I have a 1993 FD that I bought a few weeks ago with 13,000 miles on it. Now has about 13,700 after I drove it home. I haven't been driving it much since then, but it's been started at least four times with no problems.

This week, I disconnected the battery in order to replace the battery tie downs/brackets.

This morning, I went to start the car to take it to a detailer and it cranked just fine, but wouldn't start. I didn't have time to mess around with it, so I just canceled my appointment and left for work in a different car.

Is there anything about disconnecting the battery that would cause the car not to start? It feels like a security immobilizer, like there's no fuel pressure or what not. Not sure if there's a procedure you're supposed to follow in order to start these cars after disconnecting the battery, perhaps?

Thanks for any help!

Check all the fuses. Particularly EGI. I always disconnect the positive terminal first.

Thanks Sgtblue, I'll check them when I get home. I disconnected the positive terminal first, but who knows, maybe I did something unruly.

Well, I got home and checked the EGI fuse, along with the rest of the fuses and relays. I couldn't find any that were blown. So, I got in the car, turned the key...and it started just fine.

Weird. This morning it turned over like 15 times and wouldn't start, so I stopped cranking for fear of flooding it. I guess I will have to monitor the situation! Maybe it's common for these cars to not like to start after sitting for a week?

Thanks again for the help!

edit: Hmm, now that I think about it, I wonder if fuel pressure is leaking down after the car sits. I don't know how these are set up, but I imagine it's a pretty standard fuel pump. Maybe a worn-out gasket somewhere in the fuel lines?

Y'know, I've seen three of these in the past two months that had under 15,000 miles. They're out there, but they don't stay on the market for long!
