i have a similar problem... just bought my second fc and its having trouble staying started. i noticed the oil pressure gauge is at the top of the gauge and from what the guy i bought it from said he took out the cold start assist. the car will start everytime with no problem, rev up to 3 grand like its supposed to and then die out. if i keep my foot on the throttle it will stay running and the car can even be driven if i keep on the gas pedal. i havent gotten a good chance to check the car out since i couldnt drive it home so im going to pick it up this weekend. from what i have researched so far it can be a vacuum leak, bad afm, tps needs to be adjusted, clogged cat, leaking fuel injectors, or bad fuel pump... any help??

Follow the testing procedure in the FSM for fuel delivery. You seem to have spark and compression, so the only other component is fuel.

Might just be seperated fuel. How long has the current gas been sitting in the tank?

rotaryrocket and saks, is that meant for rotaryforme or me? im thinking i have a fuel delivery problem such as the fuel pump not turning on or leaking injectors, maybe a bad AFM, vac leak, tps needs adjustment. just trying to get as much info as possible so its alittle easier to pinpoint the problem. i rememer reading somewhere on the forum about a similar problem that turned out to be a gasket leaking on the upper intake manifold

I put the fuel preserver I don't know exactly what it's called but when my friend sprayed the starter fluid and cranked it would start just wouldn't run so I'm guessing I have to get new fuel injectors? I have spark compression fuel compression

or your fuel pump could not be turning on when it should. could also be the AFM since it has a relay or something that triggers the fuel pump when the car starts

Cab, that was meant for rotaryforme but I think you both might have to replace the injectors and see what that does for ya. If it fixes it, good. If not, come back here

Check the fuel pressure (test set at HF, $16). Observe the fuel pressure during a start with the starter fluid. If it falls off after start, it is likely the fuel filter or pump. If that is good, check the primary fuel injectors for flow; there is a procedure in the FSM. If the flow is good, replacing the fuel injectors probably will not solve the problem, though it is likely a good thing to do anyway.

u know the injectors have no power to them cause u've diagnosed this, correct? replaced the fuel pump so u know this one works cause the other on didn't? new battery cause the other one wouldn't hold a charge? u just guessing/replacing things hoping to find the right problem? u said in ur first post u were guessing it was the injectors. if in deed the injectors aren't getting power, u'll need the fsm which wires in the loom should have +12v on them, and trace them back to make sure the ecu is doing it's job. maybe the ecu isn't getting the necessary signal from the cas.

its probably just a relay. test your main relay and check your fuel pump.

you dont need a new harness..you can resolder them. just make sure you do a decent job and put some heat shrink tubing over the connection.

also i noticed in the email notification you said the main relay works because you're getting spark..isn't there 2 sides to it? one activates ECU and one activates the fuel pump? i could be wrong here but i think i read that somewhere.
anyway test it yourself, its easy. don't just assume it works.

first of all your being very vague by saying resolder "them" and 2nd of all main relay is what gives coils power to your spark plugs and i did test them and fuel pump has compression its fine dude if you dont know what your talking about its better not trying to help someone with such vague descriptions i know im a noob at rotarys but you have NO IDEA what you are talking about so dont even try to help

obviously i mean resolder whatever connections are failing...you don't need to replace the harness because a wire or 3 isn't working lol...you don't need to know rotaries to realize that.
