Car Will Not Start

Brief details on my problem since i have yet to find an answer here (still searching though)
1992 RX7 Twin Turbo car was running great drove it pretty hard one day then drove it back home no problems until i got about 1mile from the base. RPM's seemed to drop to extremely low (roughly 900rpm) then died and i had to push it in to my parking spot.. it was late so i thought i'd have a look the next morning.
Came out the following morning tried to start the car, it tries to turn over but nothing it just cranks and cranks and cranks. I checked Oil, Coolant, and spark plugs all are fine. when i turn the ignition on the Heat light, Oil Pressure light, and Coolant Lights come on nothing else. Any ideas where the problem could be?

hmm maybe some wires melted together coming from the battery or sumthin. i know the main fuse will pop if u put jumper cables on backward. is the starter engaging?

yea the starters engaging and it tries to crank just fine but it doesn't fire up.. I've checked everything from the fuel pump, plugs, starter everything is there for it to start (fuel/air/spark) but it just wont turn over. I was told by a mechanic friend of mine that the FD's have some sort of sensor between the pre CAT and main CAT that reads exhaust temp and if it goes bad or gets burnt up thats what makes the heat light come on.. He said if its completely fried then the ECU wont let the car start but I dont know if thats the case or even where to find this sensor for sure.. At the moment I'm completely dumbfounded

ok so i've been trying to figure out why this thing wont start for the past week. Checked plugs and plug wires both are good and producing spark, check the starter when i turn the key you hear it click and it engages. Thought I would double check the fuel pump again since last time I did it was night out and i could barely see. Well once i actually turned the key and tried listening for the pump I couldn't hear it at all so I popped the trunk and removed the panel to see if I could hear it then.. I noticed I forgot to hook the ground back up from the connector and figured that was the problem. Replaced the ground turned the key again and still nothing. So I'm thinking my pump is shot. My question now, is there an easy way to tell if the Pump itself is shot or if its electrical?

You say you forgot to hook the ground back up, but you never mention why it was off in the first place or how long it was left off for. Was it off before the problem even showed up?

I had taken the cover to the fuel pump off after the car started acting up and was trying to check it. i must have forgotten to hook it back up the first time. then when i checked it again is when i noticed it was still off.
