car runs bad when I unplug safc

Ok heres the things ive found. Stock t2 engine swapped into a 84 gslse.t2 ecu with stock injectors and as far as I can tell its all stock and ran good with a safc and stock boost. The safc screen stopped working so it makes sense it should run like stock if I unplug it and reconnect the maf wire for the ecu right? For some reason it ran really bad. The only thing that is kinda baf is the gas it had a little bad old with a lot of new (the car sat for a couple years) but once I reconnected the safcit ran pretty good again. Im really confused! Any advice would be very appriciated.

This is my take:The safc would be hooked up to act like a "variable resistor" in the wiring.
Now,take that out and you have an open wire...so to speak,..So YA it would act funny too.
If you take the SAFC out you have to put the wiring back to stock, you just can't take it off and expect it to run as before. It won't.

I re plugged in the maf wire so the ecu can read it again. Maybe there is another wire? I think I might just take outthe whole wiring harness and get a good one somewhere. Idk what else would be messing with it.

Get a Safc schematic/wiring instructions/manual that pertains to the installation on an FC,then Backtrack to revert back to stock.

Please elaborate on when/how it will "run bad"? Is it at idle, normal driving under 3800 rpm, boosting over 3800 rpm, All of the above?

Are you using the turbo AFM and pressure sensor with the turbo ecu? They should be N318 (S4) or N370 (S5).

Ill try this. I just thought the afm wire was the only one that messed but just taking it all out will insure this.

As for the "runs bad" all of the above. I should of specified that, but it idles rough sputters threw first gear and cuts out at higher rpms and I didnt even try all of 2nd. It just cut out the whole time. And it was a complete t2 swap. I have pics of it on my profile. It ran fine but the guy did a super sloppy job and im in the process of redoing almost everything. So I figured if anyone had this same problem before and could help now would be the time to fix it.

Btw, does anyone know a good place to get my injectors cleaned? I plan on upgrading but I want to get it running good stock again first and I yet to find a fuek filter on the car. YIKES! Another thing to fix.
