Can you fix a broken brand new water jacket seal?
So being a little too excited to finally put back together the engine, I accidently snagged a brand new inner water jacket seal and it snapped right on the joint when I was going to put it on a side housing. My mind is telling me I should just go ahead and buy a new seal or would something like RTV or some sealer be sufficient to hold that small jointed section together?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Aww man, that sucks!
Maybe some RTV or Hylomar may hold it together for assembly, but you might have it stuck in the back of your mind that it might leak.
Personally I would recommend getting a replacement for piece of mind and finish the rebuild knowing you did it right.

No. It will almost certainly fail. Replace it...even if you have to buy a new set of coolant seals. What’s it worth to you NOT to have to pull the engine again and completely disassemble and reassemble it a second time?
