Buying tips!!

I need to learn more about these cars before buying one. Are they prone to rust like most japanese cars that were made in the 80's?

What should I look for and what parts of the car is more susceptible to rusts?

I am looking at 1987 turbo car for purchase right now and our biggest problem with cars up here in Minnesota is salt on the road during winter.

Personally, I would look at national online-sales for a car, not for one in your local area, for the reason you mentioned. Cars in the south west generally have less rust on the body, and all other factors being equal, will only have as many other issues as any car in other parts of the country. I realize you may have to travel to get a good car, but if you get one with hidden rust issues, it's basically money down the drain, no matter how you look at it.

I got mine from Canada and surprisingly there wasn't a huge amount of rust considering all of the salt they have there. There was no permanent damage at all.

Yep..alot of Salt up here..and Pepper too.
We are a Seasoned crew..
But Honestly, you can find Flawless cars In Canada. Some guys do take care of them meticulously, storing them instead of Driving them in the Winter's Road salt, which can Make the car into a Beater real quick like.
Now..to the Poster..Read Aaron's Write-ups.. and for that,you will need Coffee..no Salt!

I have a 87 Turbo II and there is only rust on the pinch rails. It has been really nice here in the cities, I guess that 20*F isn't that warm for some but after a long -10 and -20 and intense windchill, we begin to appreciate the "not so cold but still below freezing" temperatures.
