Unhappy Buying a new engine, what to look out for?

The dreaded moment has come. The engine of my RX is as good as dead.

I'm currently looking for a new engine so I can rebuild the old one myself at some point.
I'm getting all kinds of silly quotes in the Netherlands for a simple revision (5500 dollar, minus housings) to a completely new engine for 7400 dollar.
However, i've stumbled upon a nice engine on e-bay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-02-MAZD...cAAOSw4oNalnuT
The pictures look good, the compression looks good too and I was wondering, is this a safe buy?
Is there anything else I should look out for?
Will the 2002 engine fit in my '96 frame without issues? i know that this engine has some other parts compared to the slightly older engine (16 bit ecu, new y pipe etc.) but these shouldn't block anything, right?

Kind regards,
Cakeageddon

Do not buy a JDM overseas engines unless you are prepared to have 2 dead engines, its just how it works. Just look at those compression test #'s, first of all he's doing it wrong (he's doing overall, not showing each face), of the 6 pictures, there are 2 sets of duplicates, AND the gauge is too close to being the same overall for front and back

run away, and in all honesty, rebuild yours or buy an engine from a builder, or someone on here, those JDM dealers are a joke, also, buy the time you had that shipped to the netherlands, you probably could've already afforded to rebuild your engine.

Thank you for your insights. I'll refrain from buying it then.
Im currently checking out some shops to rebuild my engine.
Given that prices in the Netherlands are quite silly and US in comparison is relatively cheap i'm considering getting a stage 2 (basically streetport) rebuild from rx7store as they seem a reliable bunch and the forum seems to like them.
So, given that my car is coming apart sooner or later, any things that'd be wise to check/replace/upgrade?

I was very happy with the customer service and quality of build from Banzai Racing. Definitely recommend them.

We have built engines for people all over the world. For international customers we have them source a core in the US or buy a new engine from Mazda.
