Buying a car that doesnt start (things to avoid)

mechanically speaking what would be reasons for a car not starting that you would avoid. (i.e if i was looking at 1 that didnt start what would be something to check...that would be a red flag) So i guess this question is the opposite of what would be the reasons. Just what would i not want to be the reason?

Compression, Listen for 3 even pulses per rotor housing....

But Compression numbers would be better, remove the one way valve on a normal compression tester to convert to rotor tester. They should be over 80psi per rotor face
