Yes. It has to be torn completely down.

how much will more than likely depend on who you ask and what their idea of a "solid" rebuild is.

check in your local forum and if you don't find anything there, you can check the vendors forums as well. BDC has been known to build a monster or two, so he's always an option. i just don't know how convenient it is for you since he's in Texas. my point is you have many options.

Since you're new, you may wish to do a lot more information gathering about porting. Bridgies can be a real pita to drive on the street, depending on how it's setup and it will never pass CARB emissions. If this is strictly a race car and not street legal, go for it. The following link to MazdaTrix will give you an idea of the 'Pro' cost rebuilds. Does not include R&R of the engine, porting and shipping is extra fom their rebuild pricing.

The following link has the FSMs and other rotary related reading, enjoy.

well im not planning on bridgeporting anytime "soon", i just love the sound the engine makes... when it is bridgeported.. and i dont know much about porting or anthings, i know theres streetport and bridgeport, what else? still trying to learn more and more stuff, so i am gathering information about everything, not just porting, but yeah....
and i know i'll probably sound stupid, but what is DYNO? i see that a lot..

appreciate the help man!

Dyno is short for Dynomometer. As they applies to cars, they generally measure the output of the engine over it's rev range. Output can be measured either at the output shaft (flywheel) or the drive wheels. They plot HP and Torque vs. RPM.

I agree. You need to research some more.
