Brake pedal low! adjustment?
Brake pedal low! adjustment?
So ever since I've acquired my 1984 gs, my brake pedal has been practically on the floor. Ive gotten used to it and even though its low, it still brakes. However, to pass inspection, the pedal needs to act on the cylinder from higher up.
I have changed the master and the lines, bled the system and its still as low as before.
Ive read in my manual that there is an adjuster on the pedal linkage itself. Went for a look underneath the dash but its hard to understand what is adjustable there..
Has anyone played around with this adjustment?
Any help would be greatly apreciated

You should see a nut on a long rod that your clutch pedal pushes against. If you can't see it right away, push the pedal a couple times to see what it is acting on and where to examine.
Break the nut loose just a bit with a wrench, and while holding it, turn the rod. You'll see which way to go to lengthen the distance it once you start to turn it. Retighten the nut, but don't over tighten it.

Kentetsu is right. Check the rear first. You're only going to have room for minor adjustment on your brake pedal anyway. You may also want to inspect your system for any leaks that may be occurring.
lol, me too! That's why I swapped in a GSL rear end. Got me rear discs and limited slip (which makes a hell of a difference in the fun factor). So much easier to work on disc brakes, and no more fiddling with rear brake adjustments again.
