brake light problem

hey guys i got s5 tail lights on my 88. when i turn on my lights they all come on but when i press the brakes one of the bulbs doesnt go bright, i replaced the bulb but it still doesnt light up, so i guess its an electrical thing which i know nothing about. ill probably take it to a buddy who can most likely fix it but i would just like to get an idea of what u guys think could be wrong.

Switch the good brake light to the position which previously did not work and see if it works or not. If it does then you likely got a bad replacement or wrong bulb. If it doesn't work then it's either a wiring or socket problem. When you press on the brake pedal, the Green/Red wire should have voltage at the bulb socket. If it doesn't then the wire splice where the G/R wire splits could be bad. If you have voltage on the G/R wire then you could also have a possible ground problem on the Black wire at the plug as it too has a splice in it.
