NY Battery connection trouble.

My positive batter connection is sliding off while driving. Essentially, the part that goes around the batter post does not hold no matter how tight you make it.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem without spending any money? The picture should make it clear what is happening.

Thanks in advance for your time.

i've seen some put a screw into it between the post and terminal. but the correct fix is replace the the cable. those replacement terminals to me is still just a temporary fix as corrosion gets into the wire end over time.

It's about 5 dollars to replace.Quit being so cheap!
Cheap fix, take a piece of pop can and cut it,throw it in between the post and clamp.

Shave the gap (bigger) where the bolt clamps so it won't max out and can tighten more.

I'm with misterstyx69...spend a couple bucks. A new cable end is < $10, just be careful to have enough length to work with.
Even cheaper if you have a 'U-pull-it' type salvage yard and find a good one there. They're probably the same for other Mazda models and Ford Probes of the era.
A rattle-can of battery terminal protector spray at the neigborhood parts store is another $5. It's a little messy if you're not careful, but it works. Those little felt circles that you drop over the battery terminal before you attach the cable will soak it up and make it last longer.

Thank you all. I suppose I could just spend a couple bucks. 8 )

I have the terminal spray and felt pads, so I'll do that as well.

Again, thanks for your time guys.

I've seen guys use a dab of Vaseline to prevent corrosion....Just don't ask to "date it" after you are done...lol!

Thanks guys. I've got it good now. My actually found some new connectors in my dad's barn. I guess I should have looked first. Thanks to all for your replies.
