ATF treatment

Salutations fellow rotary lovers,

I will be doing some engine work and was going to do the ATF treatment at the same time. I know that a minimum soaking of 24 hours is ideal. My question is what is the maximum time, if any, i should let the atf sit in the motor?

No specific reason. The car sat for about 6 months before i bought it. I noticed that the linkage for the OMP was disconnected and i have no idea how long its been like that. I pre-mixed the fuel before i drove it and noticed no issues as far as power. The wrong oil was also put in to the engine (found a half quart of 5w30 in the compartment). Just want to be safe.

The only reason to use ATF is for s stubborn seal that is stuck or carbon locked and should only be used if all other methods have been tried. ATF can swell the soft seals. On an engine that runs fine, ATF serves no purpose.

Now SeaFoam is another story. It will not hurt the soft seals and can help remove carbon. It is safe to use. It can be added to the gas to clean things up.

A couple of things here, what year is your and if it runs good then I would not be putting atf in my engine, also as stated above seafoam is not a bad deal, I usually run a bottle about every third tank of fuel, but not how that will effect premixing. as far as the omp being disconnected maybe it leaks or does not work. Maybe someone else can chime in on that, and 6 months is not a terrible long time to sit, So what I am really trying to say is, "if it aint broke dont fix it"
