I found the mazda part number for the transmitter its C901V7601 and i ordered it today from a Japanese website. i also trolled the internet and came across what i think is instructions to program the transmitter. if anyone can do a better job of translating than google it would be greatly appreciated.

Putting the fob together is pretty intuitive. Select the appropriate back plate, peel off the battery sticker, click in the key, insert the insulator over the key and screw the 2 halves together.

The instructions were pretty detailed but im guessing this flow chart summarises the programing sequence. The diagram shows the receiver box and the reset button. Google very roughly translated it to say. Press reset button with pen for 3 seconds. Doors will lock and unlock. Then press and hold the unlock button on the transmitter. Doors will lock and unlock. Then press the lock button on the transmitter. Doors will lock and unlock. This seems to be pretty similar to the instructions from the website i posted previously.
I also went to lunch today at my favorite sushi place and the waitress was kind enough to confirm that the google translation was correct. If anyone can do a better job of translating it would be greatly appreciated.

it works! Was really easy to set up. Just took the door skin off and did what the instructions said. I now have my factory central locking working for less than 80 bucks!
