Any ways to shine up oil cooler exterior?

Hi,

I'm in the process of rebuilding an FC TII engine and I'm gonna do some reliability mods to my FD
My FC oil cooler looks allright, but it has started to "corrode" the aluminium starts to get white-ish on the outside. Hope someone gets what I mean since I dont know the word for it :P Anyhow, is there any chemical or something I can clean it with to make it look nicer and get it away? It doesn't leak or anything, but if it's left alone it might go through causing leaks.

As for my FD coolers, I plan to bend the fins straight, but is there any coating to get them black again? Do you just use paint?

Weren't sure where i should post this, so I just put it here.

Regards, Øyvind
