Allergic To The Cold???
Hey everyone! I have a few issues that I am having trouble diagnosing and I was wondering if anyone can help? My '88 GXL seems to be allergic to cold weather. Now that winter is coming on, the car is beginning to show it's true colors. Anytime the temperature is below around 50 degrees, everything goes haywire. The instrument cluster begins to rattle excessively, it wont shift into second correctly (grinds slightly), transmission makes strange gurgling noises at slow speeds, and there is a slipping/clicking/skipping type sound coming from under the hood when I turn the wheel. However, once the temperature outside warms up, all of these issues vanish. I always let my car warm up in the morning before leaving my house, so all this occurs while at operating temperature, just when the outside temperature is cool. Wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these issues?

check your fluid levels, and the viscosity of the oil and trans fluid that you use. They may not be suited for your environment and weather.
Also Check your belts and look up how to test the "clutch fan".They tend to make a bit of a noise in colder weather.
Speedo: no answer for that.you got loose screws?..in the speedo surround?..(lol!.not you personally)
if its more like a howl, then it is the speedo cable.
