ALEX's FIRST FC GO ALEX GO ALEX GO ALEX
Hello everyone my name is Alexander I am 20 years old and I have recently purchased my first rx-7 FC (shell). This car was a NA s4 and I have purchased a s5 swap from an importer. *note* I purchased this before knowing that an s5 into an s4 car is not as PNP as I originally thought. Flame me for not doing my research I couldn't care less I like to learn and sometimes that just has to be the hard way. So now im kinda all in on this there really isnt much backing out of this so I am very determined to have this swap done before I leave for university in late July. So where im at now is I am replacing every single coolant/vacuum/fuel line on the swap. I have taken off the s5 throttle bottle to stick an s4 t2 one on (with tps) as well as an s4 alternator. Now from what ive read I will need to use an NA s4 engine harness on this to make it work. But im curious to see what anyone would have to say about just purchasing a whole harness custom harness to make this swap any easier? Another thing is I want to block off my OMP but if i do so do I have to remove the oil squirters or can I just leave them since they will no longer have pressure going to them? let me know.
And yes I know there is plenty of write ups on this and plenty of information out there but I just like to ask things my self and go from there. If you hate that please just keep it to yourself I will not give you any mind.
Parts I have already purchased are. 3Inch Downpipe, t2 to NA diff driveshaft, s4t2 ecu, s4t2 MAP sensor, block off plates, fuel pump.( will purchase a v-mount after doing hoodless street testing with top mount) rx-8 oil coolers.
Just throw any hep out to me that you can provide I really am just winging this all by myself and feel lost very often but I try my hardest to get a better understanding about this very cool engine. so PLEASE be nice first time in my life posting on a forum

Hi Alex. I hope/strongly recommend that you do a compression test on that engine before you spend another penny. I'm sure you've run across it by now in your research, but the rotary is NOT an engine that has a high success rate from an importer. This is not like Hondas where any engine with low miles and sitting on a crate for God knows how long will fire up with good compression and give you years of trouble free service. This is exactly why not a single importer offers a warranty on a rotary. Over the last 30 years you will find hundreds upon hundreds of threads and posts about bad engines from import; sometimes the major components (irons, housings, rotors) aren't even in usable shape for a rebuild.
So in summary, order a rotary compression tester and make sure everything is kosher before continuing to learn the hard way.

Hey Daniel I have a friend coming over to do one this upcoming weekend I do not want to worry about that later down the road after spending money elsewhere on the build. Knew this was risky to begin with and unfortunate couldn't find a different route in my area at the time of purchase. Probably gonna be sending it out to a local rotary shop to be rebuild if need be but honestly just hoping for decent compression so I can maybe enjoy the car for a few months then go from there. Thanks again Daniel
Hi Alex, my name is Alex too LOL. i look forward to seeing your build and i hope you get some nice compression on that engine! I'm also really new to the rotary engine but we are all here to learn, right!
