turbo swap
i am planning on swapping my 86 na 13b to a s5 13bt and was wondering if getting a turbo 2 engine with a 5 speed tranny and a t2 ecu and electrical harness for 1500 if it will be an easy swap or what would be involved on doing so. im thinking i may need a new fuel pump and a custom driveshaft and then i would be fine and ready to go. my main thing is how the wiring harness will go in, do i have to pull my entire old one or can i splice it in somehow? thanks

You definately will have to pull the harness and swap in the new one.
The S5 t2 has numerous upgrades from the S4 t2, most notable it's higher compression and lighter rotors. However, the s4 changed from a mechanical omp to the s5 electronic omp. I'd rather have a mechanical omp all day. So, take your time to inspect and build the engine to your taste before you throw it in.

The easiest way would be to use all your S4 electronics. Merging an S5 harness with an S4 car isn't straightforward. It's not impossible, it's just not straightforward.
You can use the S4 NA harness with the S4 TII ECU with only a few minor changes. You'll need the TII AFM as well as TII pressure sensor.

well at this point should i try to find a s4 13bt? that way the harness would be easier to deal with, i mean it either this or a na turbo conversion witch many are saying may end up badly... so in effort to dodge this i wanted to swap a t2 in, sell my na engine witch only has maybe 10k miles on it. and make some of my money back from buying the t2 engine. so in any aspect it would be rather easier to swap the s4 not the s5?

Faced with the choice of rewiring the electronics to work or buying a used S4 TII front cover off of eBay, I'd go with the eBay.
Then again I would have started with a standalone, so....
J-spec engines are exactly the same as those sold in North America save for a few emissions differences. As are the transmissions, etc.
