12a Dipstick Length

The plastic grommet on my dipstick loosened and is no longer in place. I was wondering what the exact length is from the bottom of the dipstick up to the where the plastic of the grommet begins. See attached. If I can get it back in place I am thinking to use some superglue and slide it into proper length and let it dry. This is my first ever post. Thank you for your time.

Not one to follow instructions, I choose to measure from the tip up to the stop flat on my 12A dipstick on the possibility the molding just might be a different length than yours. The stop is the same on either, so I choose that contrary to your instruction. The distance is 10 5/8 inches.

Roger that. By stop flat you mean where the plastic grommet meets the housing metal and can go no further, creating somewhat of a seal, correct?

also I still wonder the measurements from my original request.

Thanks though.

Here you go. This is the original dipstick from my '85 GS 12A.

Also you can see from this image from an aftermarket parts maker, on the 12a dipstick it looks like it is 271mm from the bottom of the dipstick to where the grommet makes a seal with the housing. In your image it appears that is at about 10 12/16 inches, or 273.05mm. That seems pretty darn close to the image below. I hope this helps someone else in the future that has this problem.
