Advice on starting 13B street port, not started for some time
Hey everyone, I just want to say first I have recently purchased my first FD3s some months ago, jumped into the purchase as I have always wanted one. I have a good CYM RX7 with a blown engine and a crash damaged silver FD3s with a "good engine" street ported.
The engine I am pulling from the crash damaged RX turns by hand, don't think the engine has been started for around 6-12 months since the accident, however the car was crashed badly and ended up being upside down but the previous owner told me it was shut of instantly.
I am hoping obviously the engine has no issues from the crash but I guess its never going to be guaranteed. I am literally new to RX ownership building knowledge from sites like this and reading some books. What would be the standard procedure for getting this engine fired up? of course all fluids changed, maybe my question is a little vague, I have an abundance of parts that came with the 2 cars one being an Apexi ecu. A compression test will also be done.
I am working away for 8 weeks at a time at the moment with only small down time in between so I have yet to inventory all parts, it was just a bargain I could not turn away!
Any advise would be appreciated !

wow.... it probably shut off when he flipped it from lack of fuel when it all went to the new bottom of the tank. if the motor was saved in the accident and it was just inverted for a little while then there isnt much of anything to worry about honestly. i would say in addition to the fluids youre doing, change the spark plugs to bur9eqp and make sure you have an ok base map on whatever ecu youre using and just start it. i cant think of why it wouldnt just start up.
There are different methods here and probably a little superstition. For example, I have heard of people removing plugs and injector/fuel pump fuses to to crank the engine over with the starter and attempt to pump oil throughout the engine. Some also recommend using a drill to spin the oil pump before a first start. But for a previously running engine that has only sat for 6-12 months, I think you can comfortably start it right up.
