CA add coolant sensor

I own a 1990 rx7 n/a. Bought from someone about a month ago. have a few issues with it but one in particular and the most annoying is the deafening noise when the "add coolant" light comes on. i provide the coolant but still sensors after driving it for about 2 minutes. also i notice when the oil pressure gauge goes to 30 it makes that noise until i raise the pressure a little by applying the gas, but sometimes the meter can be at almost 60 and it still makes the noise. im annoyed and confused. please help. also the car is stock wit no mods

Are you actually losing coolant when the buzzer goes off? If not, then it is probably just an issue of air bubbles around the sensor. Bleed the system.

Are you low on oil? Remember, the RX-7 uses about 1 quart per 1000 miles.

no, oil is at the appropriate level. it goes thru coolant like water. drinks up whats in the resevoir as well. people i talk to say its the water seal, other say its the intake. it does leak coolant from the bottom, but not a lot. the car is 172k plus. still runs strong. has an exhaust leak and needs a new cat. one of my mechanic says he sees a blue tint to the smoke, and sometimes you can smell oil. but most of the time its the sweet smell of coolant. im trying to avoid jumping to the conclusion of dropping grands to rebuild it if it doesnt really need it at this time

Fix ALL external coolant leaks. If it still eats up coolant, it is possible engine failure.

I had an "add coolant" warning problem with my 86 gxl a while back, and I know exactly how annoying that buzzer can be. Turned out the seal on my radiator cap was bad, and that leak then caused the overflow tank to function improperly (can't remember exactly what it was doing, it's been a while). I bought a new cap for a few bucks, topped off the fluid and all was well. So when you go looking for leaks check the cap.

well can the radiator cap cause the sweet smell of coolant become evident after each time its driven. because seriously it seems like im filling this sucker up with like a gallon a day with coolant. but yesterday i put that bars leak coolant solution in it and it did its justice, but now that means that something internal could be wrong thats causing the leak......by the way, is anyone familiar with the bars leak sealant. is it a good product, cause it was 65 bucks for one litter

From what I can remember I don't think it caused a noticeable smell. Sounds like you're problem is a lot different... good luck

Yeah you should never put any type of stop leak in any vehicle. One exception however is if you are positively sure your coolant seals are blown and you want to keep driving the vehicle for a little while. I would flush your coolant system a couple times to get as much of that stop leak out as possible.

this happened to my car a while back.....
the lower rad hose had deteriorated and need replacing - $35-$45

as for stop leak....i used this on my rad and everything is okay.

that wasnt the problem with my radiator, i actually took it to Rotary Reliability and Racing in Santa Ana, and i was replacing sensors, they cracked the plastic that sits on my radiator and now leaks coolant under high pressure.

sigh...long story short, my gf is buying me a koyo soon for my bday.

^ Wait so the shop cracked the plastic and caused a leak, yet you are replacing it?
