96 FD Roll bar, harnesses
Hey Guys,
I own an 96 FD with many mods already done to it. As I want to run bucket seats and racing harnesses (already bought) I'm looking for a roll bar.
In my track Miata I run a similar setup and I love it, so I decided to go with a roll bar in the RX-7. I want to go to the occasional track day and do some auto crosses, but still street drive it, so I decided to go with a bar instead of a cage especially because running a cage without an helmet in a street car is stupid.
What I found is the Autopower Roll bar and the cusco one. I come from germany so I have to order from USA or Japan (or...) that's why I wanted to make sure I buy the correct bar right away.
The autopower looks good but on their website it says its for models till 1995.
What other options do I have? Many people here in the formus don't like the cusco ones.
For the seats I got recaro spg and harnesses schroth profi II with asm and the 6 point addition (so I can drive 4 point asm on the street and 6 point on the track). The harnesses will be snap-in and wrapped around the harness bar in the roll bar.
Thanks in advance!

What I've seen so far the kirk racing have two different welded in harness bars. I run a RHD car so the harness bar wouldn't sit nicely for me. Also on the page there are no pictures, nor info about the bar.
Does anybody know if the autopower also fit's the 96 models?

I contacted a local motorsports shop who fabricate cages and they made me an offer for fabricating a custom made roll bar. It's quite expensive, but getting one from the US/Japan
combined with Shipment, Taxes and so on will be almost equally as expensive. It'll take quite some time, but I'll post the pictures in the Forum, maybe some european guys around here are interested too.
Another question regarding the harnesses: Where do you mount the sub straps? I have the snap in version and wonder where to put the two lower straps.
Thanks,
Felix

I decided to go with a full custom setup from a motorsports shop close to my place. It'll be a bolt in roll bar with a V and a harness bar.
The price is very high for a roll bar, but its fabricated, custom fitted, painted, built into the car and has a certificate (german TÜV).
If I have to pay shipping and taxes it'll be around a 200$ difference without being built in and certificate, so I decided to get it fabbed up here.
I'll post some Pictures, but not till April because that's petty much when I'll build the car fully.
