Hey yo, I'm new to the forums and was hoping to get some guidance on a couple issues with the stock Bose radio from a 93 FD that we're restoring.
1) Radio has a non-functional display - when powered the whole display is just orange, but the radio and tape deck seem functional. I thought that perhaps the polarizer on the display had failed so I tried swapping that out but it didn't help. I also tried buying another eBay Clarion radio from a year or two later on the chance that the display was compatible but it was super different (display had crimped pins instead of zebra strip connections). I still tried wiring the other radio's display as I had nothing to lose, but the display just lit up random segments. Anyone know the best route to try and source a functional display? Perhaps a broken donor radio of the same model sitting in someone's basement? Not sure if the non-Bose and Bose models share the same display, but I might not need to pull the display from the exact same model.
2) Tape deck and radio don't sound super great. I can clean the rollers and that, but if there's a service manual I'd have a better shot at finding any issues and tuning the dozen odd pots throughout the radio. Anyone know if there's a way to get the service manual for this radio (Clarion 2264)?
Note I'm an electrical engineer and should be able to fix the innards of radio if I can find a schematic. Happy to share what I figure here for others going down the same path. Also note we'll be replacing / refurbing the plastics which are pretty gross in the pics, but that'll be after we pull apart the engine to replace water jacker seals.
