88 convertible power steering pump issues
Last week I was driving the car and noticed a weird noise coming from the engine bay. pulled over and popped the hood to see that the pulley on the p/s pump was wobbling all over the place. Got the car home and pulled the pump out to see that the bearing had failed. I purchased a new pump, drained the reservoir, installed the new pump and then filled it back up with ATF and bled the system as per the FSM
The problem is that it still somehow seems that it has air in the system. the new pump has a whine that increases with idle and after a drive there is ATF spewing out of the filler neck.
My biggest concern is that somehow when the original pump failed that debris from it somehow got into the rack and is causing an obstruction there. What is the likely hood of that? Or am I just bad at bleeding the system and there is still massive amounts of air in the system?
Any help at all is very appreciated.

I just pulled the old p/s pump apart and everything internally looks good, no metal shavings or anything. do you think a p/s flush could solve the issue, or is a rack replacement needed now?

Solved the problem. There is an o-ring for the inlet tube on the side of the reservoir. It had deteriorated pretty bad and was allowing air to be sucked in. Replaced the o-ring and the growling from the pump is gone and the pump has stopped spewing fluid. Thanks Iduley for your insight.

I need help with this too
Hi...
I've been trying to fix the same exact problem but your solution just might be same as mine.
What's the O-ring you were saying? Where's it located exactly? Mind sending photos to help me out?
