Just got it, say for a while. Seller says it sat for 10+ years. Fuel tank was half full of some nasty liquid that used to be gas, I suppose. Was also rusty, along with the pump. Replaced pump, strainer, and filter. Run fine first day on the road. The next, it was intermittently cutting out at 5k. No smoke from exhaust either, 145k on the clock. Any more info needed, just ask. Thanks!

 

strainer/fuel filter clogged with the goo is my best guess.

rev it up in park or neutral and see if it cuts out at about 5k still, or if it's only under load.

Check for a clogged catalytic converter.

 

When it is acting up, it will not exceed 5k in park or neutral either. But, this problem comes and goes. I'm starting to think that its probably rotted out baffles in the tank causing it to starve. Seems the problem only happens with lower levels of gas.
