87 rx7 turbo 2 knock box location

Does any one know where the knock control unit located on the car... Is it under the passenger side dash or is it under the hood...

Passenger-side foot well, under the dash near where the harness feeds through the firewall. You'll have to remove the plastic panel on the side, then reach up to find it.

The knock box plugs into emissions (EM) harness, which is the one with almost all of the engine connections. The S4 wiring diagrams show it on page 50-25.

The Factory Service Manual is available through many websites. There are links in the 2nd gen FAQ. These are the two I use most:

i was wondering, my rx7 is a 86 rx7 n/a with a 87 turbo 2 swap. Will it make a difference between an n/a and a turbo for the knock control unit....

Knock box needed on factory ECU?

I'm having some crazy hesitation and lean conditions while at and over 3800 RPM and 6 lbs of boost on my 88 turbo chassis with series 4 ECU and harnesses on an S5t block with 3.25 straight exhaust a k&n cone filter and emissions deleted. I realized that I never plugged in the knock box and the plug is just hanging there. The box is MIA. Do I need this knock box? I do have the knock sensor installed. I never timed the car either after my swap. Before I make my own post about this I was going to see if anyone knew if the car should operate correctly without the knock box installed with the stock ECU. Thanks.
Edit: Nevermind, I found it all the way up there. :smack head:
