My 87 RX7-GXL (non-turbo) has a left muffler going bad. I think replacing them in pairs is the way to go. Unfortunately Mazda doesn’t have any more right mufflers so stock mufflers are not the answer. I have found Racing Beat mufflers are available from Mazdatrix as well as the Cat-Back system that includes the Y-pipe as well. On Tuesday I’ll have it on a lift for it’s annual inspection and will be able to get a good look at the condition of the Y-pipe. The shop doing the inspection will also be installing whatever I purchase.
The Cat-Back set is the one listed in the Racing Beat catalog for the Turbo RX7 and the mufflers I can get from Mazdatrix will also be the ones listed for the Turbo model. Both Racing Beat and Mazdatrix tell me they are compatible with the Y bar in my non-turbo RX7. The reason I mention this is that the catalog lists the turbo mufflers have a 2 3/8 inch O.D. inlet and the Non-turbo mufflers have a 2 inch O.D. inlet. I find that confusing.
The only other mufflers I could find online are some much less expensive ones on eBay that claim to fit my RX7. I don’t trust they will be up to the temperatures I’ve read the rotary exhausts.
Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
my only concern with your plan was fitment (would it bolt to the N/A down pipe/cat outlet, but if you said you've confirmed with both RB and Mazdatrix that the Turbo Y pipe will fit, then you should be good to go. not to mention, the part number is, indeed, listed as the same.
the Turbo mufflers have a larger inlet because it needs more flow and will naturally have more flow potential.
I remember the racing beat catbacks sat a little off-level left to right, mine did ~12 years ago. Wonder if racing beat has addressed this since then. Just an fyi as more work may be needed.

The inspection showed that the Y-pipe should be replaced so I ordered the Cat-Back system and new hangers from Racing Beat. That led to an email informing me that the system is on back-order and there will be a 3-4 week delay in shipping one out. I’ll post updates as they occur.
