Racing Beat exhaust
I am looking to get the racing beat muffler or something equivelent. I want something that sounds better than stock and is not too loud. However, the price from racingbeat.com is pretty high and I was wondering if getting it from any other dealer or warehouse would be cheaper. Also, many of you guys have magnaflow/borla exhausts, but on their websites there is no muffler model for the 84 Rx-7. Where do you find these? Thanks.

Borla is probably the best choice. I have the RB muffler, but got it fro free from my bud. 300$ for the rb muffler is way too high. I didn't feel and difference in power, it looks cleaner with the chrome tips and it does have a little lower tone. Borla doesn't have any direct fit models for our cars. Get a universal and have a shop weld it on.

if you're concerned about a high quality sould, get the complete RB system. It's awesome. Nice mellow note when idling and driving 'regularly', a throaty but sensuous sound when you really floor it. As I said in the other recent thread on the same topic, I've even got compliments from non-rotorheads on the sound of Carmen's exhaust.

Borlas sound pretty awesome. Low and mellow.

I installed a Racing Beat full dual pipe system on the '74 spec ported 12A in the '83. It sounds very nice and has noticebly more power.
After I got done installing it, like right after, I took it for a test drive and totally fell in love with the new performance. The power increase made me think twice about wanting to up the power any time soon (and I had it all planned out). I figured I'd have plenty of time to get used to the power before I did the planned upgrade some time this summer. Well today I gave the previous owner a ride and could tell that the little 12A that could, could definitely use some more power. It took less than 24 hours lol.
Anyway the RB exhaust was easy to install and performs very well. The PO noticed an increase too. I'd say it's worth the $$$

Long time no chat man. What kind of goals or plans would you have for a system? Do you want a full system or just a muffler? If you want a full system I'd recommend just piecing together your own like using an RB header, straight pipe, to an RB muffler, given if you don't need emissions. The key to not getting a metallic pingy sound is thick walled tubing. RB sells 1/8" mild steel tubing in 4' sections pretty cheap.
