i have an 85 GSL original 12A with only 57k mi. the car will start fine and idle around 1050 when in neutral. it will run fine through the 1st gear and sometimes through 2nd as well (shifting at about 3500 rpm). however if and when it gets into 3rd gear the car will start stalling at over 2000 rpm. the mechanic has adjusted the carb but told me it will need a rebuild. the car was not driven for the past 2 years, with an occasional start and oil replacement. what is the remedy? is there good carb place in the los angeles area? i've already invested quite a chunk of change into new paint and mechanical servicing. thank you.
