MA 3rotor question... searched but not getting a definitive answer...

Buddy of mine suggested me going 3rotor over LS1... It would probably end up cheaper in the end.

I know NOTHING about rotary engines at all... Frankly... they confuse me, but that's a whole different subject and I will learn with more reading...

My whole reasoning for an LS1 was tq down low... I want to Time attack the car and do track events and have tq so I could come up off the corners and control the car with my foot, not the boost.

However, I have seen a few 3rotor dynos, that seem to have the peak tq right around 3500... which is fairly comparable to an LS1...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJJlvw7SGtY I found this video on here supposedly of a 3rotor FD running with an LSX FD... They seem almost comparable...

So what would I have to do to keep good low end tq? Is staying sequential and just upgrading turbos the best option? Is a single GT35R a better option?

I am looking for in the range of 450-500rwhp and i'd like to have tq withing 50 numbers... Am I asking too much? Like I said, just not familiar with these engines at all yet...

Thanks for ANY help!

Phil

A 35R is a bit small. A 4088R would put down those numbers all day long with excellent response low and midrange. Just a mild street port will do the job, mainly to clean up the funny 20B exhaust ports and enlarge the primaries a little.

Would I need to upgrade anything engine wise to keep reliability there? I don't want to be busting stuff up every time I run the car hard.

I'll look into 4088, I just thought of the 35R cause I ran one on a couple boosted Nissan's I've had. it made great power and had quick response.

Rotaries have huge combustion chambers compared to piston cars. So you need more air to achieve the same boost. Hence why the 35R is small for a 20B.

Ahhh okay!

I am trying to find a couple dyno sheets of people making in the range of power I am looking for with a 4088r or 42r, I want to see where the tq curve REALLY starts to ramp up. I have been spoiled owning a couple cobras lately... That torque is REALLY something that is nice to have in the right spot... I was avoiding going back to 4cyl land in 240s for the lack of low and mid range tq. I will keep looking and post any more questions I might have here.

Thanks Guys =)

which turbine housing on the 4088r?

I read the turbo is good for close to 600whp on the 13b... assuming more on the 20b... Since I am looking for under 500whp, I think I would be okay with the .85 A/R turbine housing for a quicker spool, no?

1.0 undivided or 1.06 divided. Keep in mind with the divided housing you will need to split the 3rd rotor between valutes which is bit funky.

You can make 500 whp with the stock 3 rotor turbos and have boost and torque almost instantly. Check out Pettit's

And it will NOT be cheaper to do a 3 rotor. . plan on 15k just for getting the motor in there. And that is cheap
