TX 3800 rpm hesitation

i saw it on the faq for 2nd gens, but i still don't understand it exactly. I have an 87 non turbo. so does it mean the problem is my injectors? any help would be appreciated.

The 3800 Injectors has a couple reasons.

1. You could have sticking or stock aux ports.

2. You could have old/bad grounding on the engine and chassis.

it seems the it the problem went away. it rev's fine now, but the idle isn't consistent. one day it's at 2000 rpm's the next it's around 1500. i think it' cause the car has been sitting a while, but i'm sure im just being naive. thanks for you help.

Run some seafoam through the motor. Change out the old gas too, clean the air box, too. Sometimes rodents make home of them.

Seafoam is a motor treatment that you can mix in with gas, fill your filter with (to get to the injectors quick, etc)

cleans pretty much everything, great stuff.
Think you can still get it from Pepboys.

don't have a canister on hand to give you all the mixing specs but it's worth to have some sitting in the garage.

Don't waste your time with voodoo like Seafoam. Just change the plugs, filters and perform a full tuneup. Then when you have a few days to spare, check the actual cause of the problem which is likely to be a grounding issue:

Additionally you'll benefit by having the injectors professionally cleaned. This is done by removing them from the car and installing them on a cleaning right, not by dumping junk into the fuel tank.

yeah, i plan on getting tuned up soon. i'm just trying to work out some kinks before i start driving it daily. it's been sitting a couple of months and i've been trying to get it ready. i've been having another problem with it getting hot. it keeps dumping coolant into the overflow so i put a new radiator cap on and it's still doing it. the old one was rated for 16psi and this one 12 so i think i need to get different one.
