3.8l q

on my 3.8 L v6 i was driving and heard a pop followed by white smoke from under the hood. after letting sit for like 30minutes it ran just fine. water pump sounding like it is squealing possibly trying to stay running. after the bang insident i found oil in my coolant reservoir. now i realize that is terrible to find so is there any advice you can give me about this non rotary engine. i already think the water pump may be the reason. sorry for asking i just think u guys would have the best and straightest answer. thanks for any answers

Well, if you are loosing any coolant out through the exhaust, then I may have a solution for you. I don't know if it will work with oil going into the coolant, but if I were in your shoes I would certainly give it a shot.

Grab a bottle of Alumaseal (don't try anything else) and dump it into the radiator. It will cost you about 4 bucks, so there's not much to lose if it doesn't work.

If you do try it, shoot me a PM and let me know how it works out for you.

I used that stuff on my current motor, which was pumping the coolant out the exhaust faster than I could pour it into the radiator. I've got nearly 20,000 miles on that motor now, without any trace of an issue.
