1st gen dies at 2k rpm?

I own a 1st gen rx7. It’s been quite a learning experience and i’ve been able to get most of the problems it did have fixed except one minor, but very annoying issue. Every time i go to give it some gas, the engine will cut out at 2k-2.5k rpm. Almost like a dead spot. If i continue to pump on the gas a little it’ll catch back up and continue driving. I’m not sure if it’s something to do with a potential leak somewhere? Maybe the throttle cables arent pulling hard enough or are pulling too hard??? I’m not sure what the problem could be but it is the last problem i’ve run in to and has probably been the most annoying as well because i can’t seem to get rid of the dead zone. I’m willing to try anything at this point to get the car back to smooth running condition

Test the accelerator pump. The gasket can go bad with age.

There is also what some call the "tetter-totter" linkage on the carb that can come undone.

Find the factory service manual here: Foxed.ca

It shouldn’t be the accelerator pump. It was in very bad shape when i first bought the car but i already replaced it. I’m gonna have to look more in to that letter totter linkage. Also Is that its official name?? I’d love to look more in to the linkage and would wanna be able to find it in the manual when i look. Thanks so much for tellin me about this!
