1993 rx7

im interested in getting a 1993 rx7 and putting is a LS3 engine, has anybody ever done this? how much did it cost? (not including the rx7, just the engine cost and any misc parts needed) and also how hard is it to do this? would you suggest doing this, or just getting a stock rx7 and throwing some blowers on there?

any comments/suggestions are helpful!

Yes, its been done. Check the Engine swap subforum here.

Why would you think of throwing blowers on a car that already has turbos?

Spend some time reading the 3rd gen FAQ thread and do some preliminary research on your own. Link to thread is here:

lol its really your call. if you want some easy horsepower, reliability and to take the soul out of an rx7 then go for it

but really lsx rx7s really are beast!

sounds like everybody is oversimplifying it here. it's a big deal and a lot of money. if you're not mechanically inclined...you will spend an insane amount of money. you need to think of the the whole drivetrain...engine, tranny, rear end. what kind of computer would you put in. and then all the sensors and such you need to figure out. an electrical nightmare if you don't have it all planned out.

with the same amount of money you'd spend on the swap, you can rebuild the engine if it's bad and/or port it, buy some huge turbo, and invest in a good management system and some miscellaneous parts and you'll be set....and a few thousand richer
