1993 FD radiator cap replacement - all 16 psi??
1993 FD radiator cap replacement - all 16 psi??
Greetings!
Just wondering why all the aftermarket “oem specifications” radiator cap replacements for the 1993 FDs are all at 16 psi when the original was 13 psi? Anyone have experience using these aftermarket options and if not is it still safe to use them? An example is listed below. Thank you in advance!

The original spec was 19psi for a higher boiling point, but people experienced leaks and even fires. There was a recall that replaced some parts and changed the radiator cap to 13psi. Personally I think 16psi is a good idea if your coolant hoses are in good shape. Lower pressure means a lower boiling point, and boiling coolant doesn't transfer heat as well as liquid coolant.

Hmmm I really want to go with a 13 psi because I haven’t had my hoses and clamps changed just yet. Any idea where I would get a 13 psi fast? Seems like every auto parts store only sells 16.
RockAuto has 13psi pressure caps, and their listings show part numbers that you might be able to ask about at local parts stores. For instance, even if the local parts stores don't show your car as needing a 13psi cap, you can ask if they have Stant 10227 or Gates 31333 in stock.
