1990 Rx7 will not start where do I start?
Is there a relay click when the key is turned to 'START'? You can check that the starter is actually seeing power or working at all. With the transmission out of gear, try bridging the main positive connection on the starter motor to the starter solenoid. It should spin the engine. If it doesn't, there's a problem with the starter itself. But if it spins, you're probably looking at a voltage drop between the battery, main fuse, ignition switch, clutch interlock switch, alarm starter-cut relay and the starter solenoid itself.
Here's a thread that goes into trouble shooting: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/ive-solves-2nd-gen-sticky-starter-mystery-896013/
And my fix, which is ironically borrowed from old VW guys: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=896013. I bypassed almost all of the stock wiring, and added a new relay to bring power directly from the battery. The ignition switch merely switches the relay instead of routing power for the starter through it.
