PA Here to visit, looking for info on my rare rims...

I came here in an effort to find more about a set of rims I recently acquired, and have started refinishing. I do not own an rx7, or even a Japanese car (anymore...God I miss my maxima), but I do have a nifty set of rims.

I recently purchased a set of "enkei 2 piece mesh rims" from a private seller. When I got them in the mail, I was dismayed that they were not Enkei, and furthermore they were 3 piece. I felt burned. I figured that this impostor sent me some sort of rubbish.

Well tonight I finally put the pieces together (literally and figuratively) as I reassembled after striping paint from the face of the wheel, and polished up the outer lip....

There was a S.W. Stamped under the "Made in Japan"....

So I somehow stumbled upon a set of Southern Way 3 piece 5x120 rims? Seems that they may have been 5x120.65? fit for a corvette a long time ago...back when corvettes had beefy 15x7 inch wheels....

Google brought me here because another forum user seemed to have a few extra caps that wouldn't fit on his set of 4 bolt SW rims....So I figured Id register, post a few photographs, and see what I can learn from your valuable forum....Ive ALWAYS loved the Wankel engine, and have always respected the size/output ratio of the RCE. Its enigmatic...spinning rotors generate torque...

Here is some photographs of my wheels as I redid them this afternoon. I am not posting them with img tags, only because they are friggin huge

I added some more detail to your thread title and then moved it here to the New member tech board which is a much more appropriate home for it.

Welcome aboard, Mr. W....I'm not a JDM rim hoarder but I know we have some on this website.

I got some perfect weather yesterday, and was able to complete the set. I simply cannot wait to get some rubber on these bad boys, and get them mounted up.

After all the paint was paid for with an extra set of lug bolts, I am out about $550 and maby 10 hours of effort in stripping paint and refinishing the center. when I got them they looked aweful. Paint peeling and chipping...after 4 layers of paint removal, I saw that gold was the first color, which is what it ended up being.
