1989 FC TURBO II - what are the differences between the JDM and US spec motors?
Looking for an engine for my car, since it is a full shell missing only the engine, trans, harness, and ECU. Mine is obviously a US car. Just wondering if I'm going to run into any unforeseen issues if I purchase a JDM motor from a vendor. Thank in advance for the info. I apologize if this has been answered, I swear I used the search feature lol

Emissions stuff is all getting deleted anyway since Kentucky and Florida both don't have testing (Live in KY now, will most likely be back in FL in 5 to 10 years). I'm tearing down and rebuilding whatever I end up buying too, although I hope I find a reputable engine source just to be safe.

I'll confirm that it will be a good junker at 50%. So you feel lucky? 99% of the time they, "the vendors" know what they have purchased once it arrived. These motors overseas are gone though tested then re-sold and again re-sold. Either it sat too long or it came off a wrecked car. Neither of these are engines you want like the chassis.
Money wise, (financially) Your stuck between either knowing someone with quality parts and services or, you slowly collect irons and housings.
The way people find out like myself; ended up with people still trying to pull fast ones. Hard choices.

So you think piecing together an entire engine set is going to be financially a better deal than getting one whole from a basically unknown source? I'm all for saving money, I'm just unsure about trying to buy all of that separately. I don't want to accidently buy some s4 stuff, s5 stuff, NA , turbo, and have a Frankenstein motor that will have unforeseen issues.
Its probably pretty apparent now that I need to do a lot more research on this subject, so any direction you can point me will be greatly appreciated.

Too bad I couldn't stick to thinking like this... If I knew how it worked better, Id have saved myself two times over.
