1986 FC n/a Please Help! Clutch Broken!
Hello all,
Last night late around 1 am, my faithful 1986 n/a FC's clutch just suddenly stopped working. It had no resistance and would stick to the bottom of the floor and i could not get the car into gear even when the clutch was stuck to the floor. Since it was so late i didn't get a chance to check out if it was the fluid(my best guess) or the master cylinder or anything else. I am wondering if anyone has an idea of what happened and any advice to fix it up for cheap without paying for it to be fixed by my mechanic.
Another thing i would like to know is if the fluids are empty would there be a way for me to refill the fluid just so i could make the drive home and avoid paying a tow truck? I understand that it would just once again drain but i'm just trying to avoid the $100 charge for the tow and just need to get it back to my house.
Thanks
Ray

Welcome to buying a 27 year old car that needs maintenance.
Your problem is most likely hydraulic( the Clutch system) and the BEST option for that is to replace it ALL.(if you put new parts on the old parts can't handle it).
MASTER,CLUTCH LINE AND SLAVE.
Now just putting fluid in ..IF the fluid is non existant or low is a sign that the system is leaking and that you need to replace it anyways.
Just putting fluid in may get you there..It MAY..Not guaranteed.
You have entered a car world that one small thing will cost you..sometimes BIG TIME..
This is not a BIG thing. It is just an Inconvenience,BUT it is a part of owning a 27 year old car.
If your trying to Half-*** parts on these vehicles it will NOT go well.

Thanks for the help, yea i plan on replacing the parts once it gets to my house but i'm just hoping to be able to top off fluids for the 10 mile drive i have to my house to avoid the towing fee. Thats my bigger concern since i'll be able to troubleshoot and fix it up myself once the car is moved.
