1985 GSL-SE S5 turbo swap Need Help!!!

Hi, I have a 85 SE and i still have the 6 port stock motor. All i did was put the turbo and the manifolds on the motor and blocked off the extra ports. When i bought the car the guy i bought it from had started the swap but never changed the wire harness or ecu. Now i put the S5 T2 Ecu and wireharness in and the car wont start.

I also changed the throttle body and the TPS. All emissions have been removed from the engine and the wiring for the emissions has benn removed for the harness. Now i dont have spark!!! I have everything else but spark. The interior harness has been replaced also but i couldnt find another 85 GSL-SE harness so i used the 84 GSL harness for the interior.

The cars interior is literally in pieces but the engine bay is complete with all the wiring installed. If i could just get spark the motor will start. But now the car has been sitting for about 2 years now and i really want to get her going again. now im thinking i should rip everything out and start all over in case i missed something but i dont have the time because of work and family. So Im wondering if anyone in the SF Bayarea is willing to take on a hell of a job or at least give me some advice on what to do. Ive talked to multiple people and got no where with their info. Should i just order another turbo engine and redo everything i dont know whts going on with the car. And the last time i looked at it! ******* a mess!!! So if there is anyone willing to help please let me know. I miss driving my baby.

You blocked off the extra ports? Unless you modified the TII lower intake manifold, you've got a horrible mis-match that will ruin airflow. The ports on a 6-port engine are round, while those on a 4-port engine are larger and oval. They don't match up at all.

Beyond that, you'll need a number of other things to get it to run, including an S5 TII AFM & boost sensor. The CAS signal comes off of the emissions harness, so that should be connected up ok. Unless you're using a distributor?

Im not to worried about the ports but i dont have any spark. Thats my biggest issue. I have everything else thats needed to start the car but i have no spark. Even if the ports dont match perfectly the car should still start and run a little bit. Its just the fact that the wireharnesses are not from the year of the car. I had to use the carburator interior harness for th interior and that is not going so well. But beyond that i have everything thats needed for the engine and ecu. I ripped apart a 1990 S5 turbo 2 and grabbed all the major parts except the motor because it was blown to ****. The n i found out that the intake manifold was warpped so im using the S4 turbo intake manifold with a S5 turbo throttle body. I have the TPS, MAF, MAP, BAC, ECU, ect... from a S5 TII. Just no spark.

Im actually ready to just rip out my stock motor and see if anyone is selling a full S4 turbo motor with everything on it. I think i should just start all over again and do it correctly. The only prob is i dont have the time for a job this big and its really hard to find people that are willing to take on a job this big. Especially around the SF bay area. My friends keep telling me to just put a V8 in it but i love rotory engines and if i wanted a V8 i would have bought a mustang. Its just really hard to find a wireharness guy around anymore.

are you running the TII coils? Are you running the TII CPS or are you running the GSLSE distributor? If you can post a pic of the underhood, we can get an idea of how to help you out and where to start.

Im using the crank angle sensor and all the things that are needed to run the vehicle but i cant figure out the wiring for the spark. Im trying to get pics up but my camera is kinda broken at the moment. But my issue seems to be the wiring mostly. 85 carb harness for interior/ S5 turbo 2 ecu and wire harness for the engine bay!! this is confusing me. and yes im running the TII coils!!!

What are you doing about the missing plug that would normally be from the front harness? The emissions harness (from the engine) only has 2 of 3 plugs for the ECU. Are you adapting the '85 wiring for this? Search in the 1st gen tech section for more detailed info. In particular, the FAQ will have links to threads covering turbo conversions.

yeah im adapting the harness but a friend of mine was showing me how to do this and now he doesnt have the time to help me so im kinda fucked. Also on another note : I have a 86 GXL that i swapped the S5 Na block into. Now im wondering if i can use the S5 NA intake manifold with the S4 NA throttle body because the wireharness is different? or will it fit perfectly. Im just worried about the TPS being diferent. And also thanks for all your help guys I really appreaciate it!!!!
