13b turbo in a b2600 4X4

hey everyone, 1st post here, I have done alot of research and have found little info on this swap. what I could not find is if anyone has acually done this swap? I have a 1991 b2600i 4X4 with a cracked head and i wanted to replace the engine with something with a little more power (13b) and keep the original trans/trasfer. If anyone has some input or info i would appreciate it. (buying the engine one week from today if everything goes as planned).
Thanks, Jesse

Shoot an email to Dan Atkins at Atkins rotary (.com) and he will be able to answer alot of your questions. I know there are is a site that sells an engine mount adapter for a 13B into B series trucks. Some other things available also, just cant remember the site. He will be able to point you in the right direction.

IF you get the info,it would be Great if you could Post it up on the forum.I was "dreaming" about the same sort of thing.I actually had the Truck, and the engine at the same time,But I was gonna use the truck for Daily driving(4 banger)and the Engine(TII) for my car!

yeah there are vids on you tube of rotary b-series trucks, and yes the trans has to be changed, the starter for a rotary is mounted in the opposite position as it is for the pickup, i considered this project when i was rotorless and wrecked my b2200, but i have a project FC now

thanks for the replies. From what i've read the trans in my b2600 is the same as the 89-91 rx7 tranny, and to do the swap all i would have to do is replace the bell housing, fab up the mounts and fab the exhaust. I didn't know about the starter being on opposite sides? where you comparing it to a b2200? any other info would be greatly appreiciated.
(here is a pic of my truck that will be going 13bt, i can't figure out how to shrink the pic down so just copy and paste the link.)

Yes, i'm gonna try keeping the stock drivetrain other than the rotary. 4x4 will still work.

On the B2600, the transmission is a RibCase style, like the Turbo2. It has a seperate bell housing.

The SA RX-7 and all N/A RX-7s used a smooth case transmission that does NOT have a seperate bell housing.

He will need a Turbo 2 bell housing.

The B2600 is a 2.6L 4 cylinder.

I have one of these trucks sitting in my back yard.

In addition to the engine swap. Use the Turbo2's differential in the rear end of the truck and an N/A differential in the front. (Not ring and pinion. the 4.44:1 that's stock you'll need for torque. Use the differential for Limited slip/locking capability in the mud.)

Hey, I picked up my engine, trans, and wiring yesterday out of a 90 rx7. right now i've got the old engine out of my truck and the new engine on it's way in. everything looks like the engine will slide in with a few mods. One thing that i didn't think i would have to do is move the trans up about an inch and a half, this isn't for sure but i think the intake is going to hit the fire wall. no big deal though, the drive shafts have a slip yoke so i think i may be able to get away with sloting or redrilling the mounts. if anyone has any experience and wants to chime in i would be happy to here from you.
Thanks

welcome to the board.

i wouldn't hold my breath. his last activity (in his profile) was about 8 years ago.

as far as your list goes, you may have to get creative sourcing those items.
