13B flywheel options?

Hello all, I am starting a very stupid and pointless project, and I am going to need a smaller diameter flywheel to make my engine/trans combo work.

The engine is a mostly stock 6-port S4 and the transmission is a Volkswagen 020 unit. The standard 13b flywheel fouls on the diff output. Adapting the bellhousing and working out the starter interface will be a circus all its own, but we'll get there.

The diameter of the new flywheel will need to be about 2-3 cm smaller.

Right now, I'm thinking about the cheap aftermarket deal like this with the auto counterweight, and just cutting it down to weld on the VW ring gear, but since it will be mostly stock, I'd like to keep a heavier flywheel for drivability. I'm not too concerned about having a beefy clutch, as I won't even be porting it, hp goal is only about 175.

I'm fine with making my own flywheel, but figured I would check to see if a solution is already available. Any input is appreciated!

welcome to the board.

Madatrix has one: https://mazdatrix.com/product-catego...w-adapter-kit/

i know there was a time when RB had one in their catalogs (pre-digital days), but i do not know if they still offer the parts. i have not looked through their online catalog thoroughly.

Ayy, thanks man! That's for an air-cooled transaxle, but I'm willing to bet the ring gear is the same as whats needed for my transmission. I know that swap had been done, but I hadn't even thought about beetle parts. I'll probably just get a beetle flywheel machined to mate to the auto counterweight, I think I have one laying around.

Just for clarity, the trans I'm using has the inside-out pushrod flywheel, so using that inst an option. I'll be fabricobbling the clutch fork into the trans.
