I just bought an 83 GSL it has 13b injected in it when the car is warm I can start it by holding down the Gas pedal when its cold its somewhat of a pain to start, the guy I bought it from says he didnt get around to setting up the choke, im new to rotaries was wondering if some one has a diagram I could use to set up the choke

Is this the same '83 that had the RB streetport and Nikki carb you rebuilt or a new '83 with a swapp'd 13B? You sure have hard luck on this issue with the FB's...I'm a carb guy, so let's see what the SE and 2ndgen guru's can tell us about setting up the 13B FI correctly for cold morning starts...

So the PO did a motor swap in the car?

The 13b's in a first gen only came in 84-85, and then only in the GSL-SE models.

We need to get this answered before we can help you more.

this is a new 83 that I recently purchased the guy did a 12a to 13b swap, my old one I sold before i could solve the problem because I needed $ to pay for my college courses

The guy I bought the car from is gofastrxy on the boards

https://www.rx7club.com/nw-sale-wanted-classifieds-209/83-gsl-1500-obo-800347/ << is the thread he posted where I found the car for sale

The car has a High Idle, He said that the choke wasn't hooked up which explains the cold starting and a vacuum leak

im not to great at fuel injection just trying to figure this all out

Well, for starters theres no such thing as a choke on a fuel injection system. Only carburetors use a choke. Do you have a picture of the engine? I'm just trying to figure out if it is a gsl-se 13b or if it is from an early second gen car, and what has been done to it. Don't hold the pedal to the floor when you start it, that can put it into clear flood mode (if these cars have it) If its a gsl-se motor you should be able to push the pedal to the floor once to set the fast idle cam(when the engine is cold) and it should fire right up with your foot off the pedal and idle at about 2000 rpm until it warms up. Give that a try and see what happens. If you get some pictures up we can further diagnose your problem. Good luck!

This is why I was wondering if it was the same '83...

I was hoping they weren't actually trying to attach the choke cable in the '83 chassis to something on the 13B...
