13b bridgeport carb selection...

I know there are several threads on this subject and I've read almost all but none have satisfied my questions. i have an 85 gsl 13b bridgeport with am headers and exhaust. I am stuck between which carburetor to choose and need some genuine input for my setup. Right now I have a holley 600 vac second thats been giving me problems. I know I need a 650 cfm but I'm stuck between the weber 48, the holley 650 vac second or 650 mechanical secondary (also which type of holley, street avenger, race, etc...). It is my dd so I'm not sure whether I should go vac or mech second or just go with the weber. From what I've read about the weber, it's a great carb, but not as efficient for the 13b bridgeport as the holley. (I read this on the racing beat site listed below) Any help and input is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Stick with the Holley 650vac. Doesn't make sense to buy a weber carb and manifold.

I don't think the type of Holley matters as much as the fact that you need to follow the RB blueprint to making it play nice with a rotary - a bridge, at that. I would imagine there are probably other "blueprints" you could follow, but RB is the one that I find easiest to find - not because they talk, but because people have pulled "their" carbs apart.

there are a handful of threads on here that go into details. good threads. I suggest that if you choose an off-the-shelf Holley, that you seek them out before you buy it. otherwise, don't bother.

if all else fails, you could always use the Holley as a throttle body and run a "budget" EFI setup with a Megasquirt.

don't bother with the Weber 48 on your engine.

Diabolical1, forgive my naivete, but how can you use the "Holley as a throttle body and run a budget EFI setup:? The word budget piqued my curiosity immediately cause I'm a tuner on a tight budget!

i answered your PM before i saw that you posted your question here as well.

in essence, you just make your fuel system EFI-ready, you find a place to mount rails and injectors, and find a way to mount a TPS. it's not as easy as it sounds, but it's not a hard as you may think.

i don't know of a dedicated build thread on here where someone may have done the same, but if you look at Peejay's setup in the linked thread above, you can get the gist of what i'm saying.

Thank you for your advice. I'm running with the Holley 670 street avenger mechanical secondary.
