Why is it a bad idea? What are his power goals? What type of turbo does he want to run? What engine management system? Why are you capable of building an engine but not giving this person advice?

You can turbo it but what intake are you going with, will it be carb or EFI, more info needed, if he does go with a turbo and the brdigeport he should consider upgrading the rear to a GSL-SE rear or a ford 9inch, also change out to a s4 or s5 turbo tranny.

Yes what power goals is you friend trying to meet.

thats not going to work, the engine will not be able to support a large turbo and be a daily driver, do not use the high comp. rotors, use low comp. rotors, a mild streetport, and a small turbo, suggest trading up to a later turbo tranny and a limited slip rear-end out of a GSL-SE model, the FB is plenty light enough that you dont want to just dump all kinds of funds into this high revving high hp engine, and im about to **** alot of people off by suggesting a v8 conversion if he wants a daily driver with large numbers, a LSX engine is strong and light base to build off of.

OK, to lay it out in point form.

-carburetors are crap
-carbureted bridgeports are even worse
-carbureted, bridgeported and turbocharged is a steaming pile of dung

A carbureted bridgeport is a horrible, horrible, horrible car to drive daily. Seriously. The uneven vacuum of the bridgeports basically turn the carburetor into a controlled fuel leak. The car will buck, sputter, be hard to start, get ridiculously poor mileage and only run well at wide open throttle.

If he wants to actually use the car, then the carburetor should in on the lawnmower where it belongs and the 12A should be running EFI. Period.
