12a OMP removal Q's

As the title describes I'm going to remove the OMP from my 12a. I bought the Atkins block off plate and am getting ready to do the delete.
I've got a couple questions regarding the process.

1. Is the OMP below the oil line? Do I need to drain the oil to avoid getting drenched when I take it off?
2. What's the preferred method of removing the linkage?
3. What's the preferred way of blocking of the oil lines to the carb?

Any help is appreciated thanks!

no need to drain the oil.
the linkage has a small cotter pin at the bottom and probably at the top too. been a long time since i messed with a stock carb.
just remove the lines from the carb.

If the block off plat did not come with bolts, do not use the factory ones with the block off plate. They are too long and will break the casting if used.

Good to know about the bolts, the Atkins plate is fairly thick, I’ll have to compare it to the thickness of the OMP. And as for removing the lines, I’m assuming I’ll need to cap off where the lines would connect to the carb to prevent any unwanted air flow?

Capping them is good but not a big deal.

I'm in the process of doing an OMP delete. I removed the pump and I have a block off plate. But what should I do with the shaft that drives the OMP? It moves in and out easily in the engine casting. Should I just pull it out and fit the cover plate?

Thanks!
The shaft, you mean? And it won't rub against the block off plate and fill things with metal shavings?
