12a dlidfis timing issue? Cranks but backfires..
I recently installed DLIDFIS on my freshly rebuilt 1980 rx7 12A streetport. I cant get the car started. It cranks and misfires. I started the engine using the stock ignition but after upgrading the ignition I cant get the car running. I have tried to adjust timing by doing the following.
* aligned first mark on pulley
* remove the dizzy and aligned the shaft with correct mark. re-installed and made sure that distributor rotor is facing engine rotor #1.
* after reinstalling the dizzy it lined up in the center of where the nut securing the dizzy is at. I tried to adjust timing by moving the dizzy forward and backwards and have not had any luck in starting the car. It continues to crank and backfire.
Is there anyone who can share some input. I read various threads but cant seem to find the right one for this problem please help.

welcome to the board.
you mentioned a newly built engine and a new DLIDFIS system, so my first question is did you try firing the engine on the stock ignition configuration, and if so, did it run?
it seems obvious you're getting spark, so if there are no misplaced plug wires (and you're not flooding ), then it's probably something going wrong with how you're installing the distributor.
